With a modest height of 5 metres and a cantilever subtly inclining at 86 degrees, the Branca P lighting column restores illumination to a human scale. Unlike purely functional masts that dominate a space, this element integrates as a sculptural accent within the landscape. The design is perfectly suited for marking pathways in parks or intimate zones within residential areas, where the line of light guides the route without aggressively piercing the darkness.
Living Material in Dialogue with Nature
The strength of this design lies in its material expression. Crafted from 5 mm thick Cor-Ten steel, the column develops a characteristic protective oxidation layer over time, engaging in a dialogue with its natural surroundings. The faceted, irregular profile catches daylight in shifting ways, softening the hardness of the steel and allowing the object to visually merge with tree trunks and surrounding greenery.
Visual Comfort and Minimal Light Pollution
The lighting is designed not as a point source, but as an integrated linear module of 1.2 metres, recessed seamlessly into the steel profile. This ensures a diffuse and comfortable light distribution (available in 3000K or 4000K) that minimises glare and respects the nocturnal atmosphere. Despite its slender appearance, the structure, weighing 113 kg, offers robust resistance to urban wear and tear.
Creating a Modular Woodland Edge
The Branca P functions strongly as a solitary element in smaller spaces but truly comes into its own when arranged rhythmically or combined with the larger M and G variants. By mixing this 'family', an organic landscape can be created that mimics the diversity of a woodland edge.
