Working together with you on a durable and comfortable Public Space with functional an quality street furniture elements

About us

Servibo BV was founded in 1977 by Guido Goossens as a supplier of street pavements on the Belgian market. In the early 90's the company made a switch from pavements to the world of Design Street furniture with the distribution of two renound Design companies Escofet 1886 and Santa & Cole, both from Barcelona. As one of the first companies in Belgium to launch design street furniture in Belgium, Servibo has been involved in many projects to enhance the public space of many cities. The assortiment of Servibo has grown the last years with more key players from the Barcelona Design world such as D.A.E. and BD Design. The focus throughout the assortment is quality and durability to ensure that people can enjoy the elements and the public space for many years. More recently the company Larus Design has been added as a supplier for design furniture but also for custom made projects, where the customers demands and requirements are key.

• Public space is never just about infrastructure. It’s about dignity. Autonomy. Connection. It’s how cities say: You are seen. You are expected. From the layout of streets and squares to tactile guides, accessible seating, or lighting that reassures after dark — every design decision either includes or excludes. 💬 In our first LinkedIn article, we explore the often overlooked but essential role of street furniture in building inclusive public and semi-public spaces. 👉 [Read the article below] Whether it’s a bench that supports independent use, a drinking fountain that serves every age and body, or a wheelchair-friendly picnic table — street furniture shapes who can be present, how they participate, and whether they feel they belong. 📣 We’ll be diving deeper into this topic in our upcoming talks at: Vakbeurs Openbare Ruimte – Brussels on May 15th Congres Publieke Ruimte – Bruges on May 20th 🔗 Event links in the comments. At Servibo, we believe inclusive design is not just about ticking boxes — it’s about designing cities that reflect the full spectrum of human experience. #InclusiveDesign #PublicSpaces #AccessibilityMatters #StreetFurniture #UniversalDesign #DesignForAll #UrbanInclusion

  • How can thoughtfully designed street furniture transform the way we experience public space? Join us for an inspiring talk at the Public Space Expo Brussels on May 15th at 2 PM (Lecture Room 3) — led by our very own Peter Servais. Imagine a city where everyone feels at home — whether young or old, with or without disabilities, seeking activity or rest. At Servibo, we believe street furniture isn’t just about function. It’s about inclusion, comfort, and connection. During this session, Peter Servais will share practical insights and real-life examples on how to design public spaces that truly serve all users — through something as often overlooked as street furniture. 🔍 Topics include: ✔️ Ergonomic benches for enhanced comfort and participation ✔️ Accessible picnic sets that support social interaction ✔️ Integrated lighting for safety without clutter ✔️ Inclusive drinking fountains for active, walkable environments ✔️ Sensory planting that improves orientation and atmosphere ✔️ Functional, green and inviting spaces that extend dwell time This talk is not a product presentation, but a visionary session that explores how public space design can actively contribute to social inclusion. 📍 Free registration link in the first comment 📽️ Link to the lecture in the second comment Not able to attend the event? Our team would be glad to bring this talk to your office or team — not as a commercial pitch, but as an inspiring dialogue on how to strengthen inclusion through design. 📩 Reach out via message to schedule a session. Can a bench do more than just offer rest? What if it gave energy ⚡, connection 📶 — and even a sense of safety 🌙? Across cities and campuses, something small is shifting. Benches are no longer just places to pause — they’re becoming quiet hubs of energy, comfort and insight. 🔋 Imagine a seat that charges your phone off-grid. 💡 A table that glows softly after sunset. 🌬️ A resting point that tells you the air quality is safe to breathe. With the Solar Beam by LARUS Design street furniture now blends design, sustainability and digital functionality — all without demanding attention. 📍 Ideal for parks, schoolyards, mobility hubs or scenic trails where connection is needed but infrastructure is limited. For public space designers, architects and city planners, this is a subtle but significant shift: 🛠️ a modular, circular solution that adapts to its surroundings — ✨ without shouting “smart” or being too "futuristic". 👇 We explore the full potential in an upcoming article — coming soon in the comments. Like, and comment so that you see the link to this article soon. #UrbanDesign #SmartCities #StreetFurniture #PublicSpaces #SolarEnergy #InclusiveDesign #SustainableInfrastructure #DesignThatConnects

  • You don’t need to play sports to feel part of a sports site. That’s the power of thoughtful public design. At the newly redeveloped De Kouter sports site in Leest (City of Mechelen), the lines between athlete, spectator, passerby and neighbor begin to blur — by design. The landscape invites you in, whether you’re here to run, rest, or simply feel connected. This vision of openness and community is subtly reinforced by the street furniture integrated into the site. Benches don’t just offer comfort — they anchor the experience, define movement, and invite participation. That’s where the Axis benches by Larus Design come in. Strategically placed along walkways, green edges, and near buildings, these six benches form natural resting points that echo the site’s inclusive character. Why Axis fits right in: • A timeless silhouette in tropical hardwood and steel 🌳 • Ergonomic form that supports every body 🪑 • Durable, low-maintenance materials made for real-life use 🔩 • Aesthetic neutrality that amplifies — not competes with — its surroundings Commissioned by the Stad Mechelen designed by TRiAS architects, and executed by SPORTINFRABOUW this project reimagines what sports infrastructure can be: public, accessible, sustainable — a space for all. This is more than a bench. It’s a silent facilitator of community life. Because every great public space needs places to pause, reflect, and simply be. Want to see how thoughtful furniture supports inclusive, multifunctional spaces? • 🌍 What if a bench could carry the history of a place? Imagine public furniture that doesn’t just fill space—but tells a story. Wave, designed by Dutch artist Paul Koenen and developed in collaboration with Escofet 1886 by Molins, does just that. Crafted from recycled debris of a former industrial site, this modular bench transforms demolition rubble into sculptural design rooted in local memory. 🌀 From the dust of demolition rises a new place to meet, reflect and connect. This is more than a bench—it’s a poetic form of urban storytelling, grounded in circular design and site-specific transformation. 🏙️ For urban planners & city developers Wave turns brownfields and other redevelopment into an opportunity for lasting public value. It embeds local heritage into long-term, resilient urban infrastructure. 🌿 For landscape architects & space designers This is public furniture with presence. Modular, sculptural, and infused with the story of its site—ideal for spaces that invite human interaction. ♻️ For sustainability officers & procurement teams Made from site-specific recycled material, Wave meets high circularity standards while offering long-term durability and beauty in the public realm. 💡 Prefer a neutral material finish? Wave is also available in non-recycled concrete—offering the same design versatility with a broader material palette. 📩 Want the full story? Our next newsletter dives into Wave’s journey—from rubble to refined public object. • 🚲 Designing cities for cyclists means more than just building bike lanes.🚲 It means thinking through every detail of the cyclist’s journey — including the moment when things don’t go as planned. A flat tire or loose chain can easily disrupt a commute, a school run or a relaxing weekend ride. That’s why future-ready public space includes not just movement — but also support. At Servibo, we help cities, designers and developers close that last gap with vandalism-resistant, low-maintenance bicycle repair stations. ✅ For cyclists: Quick, intuitive tools that empower self-repair — no app, no fuss ✅ For cities & public space managers: A plug-and-play solution that supports cycling policies, improves user experience and requires minimal upkeep ✅ For developers & commercial sites: A small but powerful service upgrade that shows care, supports sustainability goals and boosts site appeal From mobility hubs and campuses to park entrances and shopping districts — small interventions like this send a clear message: The best public spaces don’t just move people — they take care of them. 📎 Link in first comment 👇 Curious how this works? • How the city of Leuven reconnected its cityscape to the river In the heart of stad Leuven, on the historic Hertogensite, the river Dijle has been brought back into the urban landscape — giving the city new breathing space. Where the city once turned its back on this natural artery, the redesigned Jansenius Park now reconnects heritage, nature, and daily life. Much more than a quiet park Jansenius Park has become a multi-purpose public space, offering playgrounds, a sports field, and open pathways that seamlessly link the park to the new residential areas. A place where leisure, social interaction, and relaxation come together. ✨ A public space needs moments of pause That’s why the design team — including Wirtz International nv Landscape Architects — selected the timeless Neoromántico Clásico benches from the Urbidermis & Belloch Forestal collection. These benches are carefully positioned to complement the green-blue character of the site, creating inviting spots for residents, visitors, and passersby to rest, connect, and enjoy the space. 🔍 Curious to discover the full story?
