The event square in Geraardsbergen
The town of Geraardsbergen is heading for a vibrant summer, with numerous activities and events planned on the Market Square during the summer months.

Geraardsbergen is perhaps best known as a cycling city with the cobblestones on the Muur van Geraardsbergen and, of course, the Mattentaarten.
Ah yes did you also know that Geraardsbergen also has its very own Manneke Pis.
It promises to be a hot summer in Geraardsbergen full of activities. Some of these activities will take place on the Markt in the city centre. For this purpose, part of the Market was fitted with seating areas and green spaces. The main part of the Market will be retained for the weekly market and with space for other infrastructures related to all of the coming events.

A temporary installation
The city of Geraardsbergen decided to place street furniture on the Markt that could later be reused in other places.
The various elements now used on the square should therefore be able to be used later, both individually and in combination, without losing their manipulability and sturdiness.
De The main aim of this project is to create a cosy atmospheric space on the Market Square with plenty of seating but, above all, space for greenery. Playful elements and shapes should give it an inviting character in combination with atmospheric bulb string lighting and colourful flags.
De The choice for suitable elements and materials was found in the street furniture collection of Escofet 1886. Shape and weight were considered so as not to compromise the later reuse of the elements.
Playful combinations
Combining the benches with planters from the Boxland family gives a lot of possibilities with uniformity in material and colour.
These elements can be combined in countless arrangements figures and shapes and make straight-line arrangements as well as cosy seating areas possible thanks to the connecting elements.
The planters linked to the benches break up the linear appearance and bring colour and contrast to the streetscape.
