The Petra collection by Escofet is a series of sculptural seating elements crafted from molded concrete, inspired by stones naturally eroded by water. Designed with public spaces in mind, these seats combine aesthetic appeal with functional benefits, making them an ideal choice for urban planners, landscape architects, and designers of public domains.
These organic, stone-like forms—available in three sizes—are versatile enough to be placed as standalone pieces or grouped together, creating inviting communal areas that encourage social interaction and serve as meeting points. Their shapes and textures fit harmoniously in both urban settings and natural landscapes, enhancing the aesthetic of any environment.
A significant advantage of the Petra seats is their role in tactical urban planning. They not only provide comfortable seating but also act as subtle barriers that discourage vehicle access to pedestrian zones, promoting safety and the idea of a playable city. This makes them perfect for public plazas, parks, and scenic locations where safety, social interaction, and aesthetics are priorities.
The installation is simple, with Petra S and Petra L pieces resting on the ground without the need for anchoring. This allows for flexibility in placement, whether on pavement, compacted sand, or grass. Additionally, their durability—thanks to an etched and waterproofed concrete finish—ensures that they withstand weather conditions and heavy public use with minimal maintenance.

Cast concrete with natural stone aggregates - finish : acid-etched and waterproofed
For installing the Petra XS, the element is first carefully maneuvered and positioned in place using lifting slings suited for the weight of the element (728 kg). To securely anchor the seating element, the anchoring bolts (2 stud bolts DIN 931 M16 x 140 mm) are first screwed into the base of the Petra XS.
The element is then placed in its desired location, and the bolt positions are marked on the surface. After marking, holes of Ø40 x 180 mm are drilled and filled with strong resin or mortar. Finally, the element can optionally be sealed around its base to achieve a seamless finish with the ground.
