Rest point on the route
At 240 cm the Sócrates Banca 240® accommodates three to four people seated side
by side at a comfortable distance. This scale makes it well suited as an
accessible bench on park paths and pedestrian routes where
standards for accessible route interruption require seating at regular intervals.
In urban parks, along canal paths, on campuses, and near care facilities, the
Sócrates Banca 240® functions as the rest point that makes a difference for visitors
who cannot complete the full route in one movement.
One material, no maintenance burden
The Sócrates Banca 240® is a monolithic concrete bench: no timber slats that weather,
no steel frames that rust, no rubber spacers that come loose. The
cast concrete with polished finish is UV-stable, frost-resistant
with a correctly applied waterproofing treatment, and requires no periodic
retreatment. The bench responds to weather — wet concrete is darker, dry concrete
lighter — but it does not age in the way organic or metallic materials age. This
makes it suitable for projects with a service life requirement of twenty years
or more.
Monolithic as a quality signal
A concrete bench without visible joints or fixings communicates quality in a
way composite or coated materials cannot. The Sócrates Banca 240® is one
continuously cast element — what you see is what is there. This makes
it recognisable for the designers and specification writers who distinguish between
a bench that lasts twenty years and one that needs replacing at the next plaza
renovation. The bench fits in the standard Escofet colour palette; for
project-specific colours Servibo requests a quotation from Escofet.
Horizontal line in the landscape
A sequence of Sócrates Banca 240® benches along a walking path or promenade creates
a rhythm that accompanies the route. That rhythm works best when the remaining
hardscape elements follow the same material logic: bollards and planters in
concrete, waste bins from the Escofet collection, bike stands that introduce no
contrasting material accent. Servibo offers through the Escofet and Urbidermis
collections a complete palette of complementary elements for the
design of outdoor public space and coordinates delivery through
a single point of contact for Belgium and Luxembourg.
Frequently asked questions
Does the Sócrates Banca 240® have a backrest or armrests?
No. The Sócrates Banca 240® is a monolithic concrete element without backrest or armrests. This is a deliberate choice: a bench without rests allows multiple seating positions — sideways, upright, leaning against an adjacent object — and is accessible from both long sides. This flexibility suits parks, campuses, and the edge of urban plazas.
Is the Sócrates Banca 240® available with integrated LED lighting?
Yes. The Sócrates Banca 240® is available in both polished and acid-etched finish, both also available with integrated LED lighting. The LED module illuminates the bench from below along the full 240 cm. Power supply must be installed before paving is laid.
Can the Sócrates Banca 240® be combined with other elements in the Sócrates range?
Yes. The Sócrates Banca 240® uses the same concrete mix and finishing processes as the Sócrates Banca 360®, the Sócrates Cubo®, and the Sócrates Cenicero®. Combining different model sizes in the same finish gives the designer freedom to differentiate zones by use pattern without breaking the material logic.
