Seating without orientation
A cube has no front. The Sócrates Cubo® offers seating from any direction — visitors choose how and from which side they approach the element. This makes it well suited for plazas where movement patterns vary, for entrance areas where multiple arrival axes converge, and for rest points along pedestrian routes travelled in multiple directions. One element is an individual seating point in public space; three side by side form an informal bench; five in a cluster define a dwell zone.
Concrete as the final material
The Sócrates Cubo® is made of a single material: cast concrete with natural stone aggregates, acid-etched and waterproofed. The acid treatment exposes the texture of the aggregates — the surface acquires a granular character that connects with unworked stone, greenery, and naturalistically managed park environments. The waterproofing treatment protects the concrete for long-term outdoor use without masking the material-honest quality of the surface.
Present by day, visible by night
The integrated LED lighting illuminates the Sócrates Cubo® LED from below. At night the cube becomes a point of light in public space — the lighting emphasises the monolithic concrete form and marks the dwell location without flooding the surroundings with light. This makes the LED version suitable for promenades, urban plazas with evening activity, and locations where social safety and liveability are supported in the evening by a visible, inviting street profile. The electrical connection must be installed before the paving is laid.
The concrete foundation of the dwell zone
Concrete calls for concrete. A public space that chooses the Sócrates Cubo® as its seating element gains the most when the remaining hardscape elements follow the same material logic: bollards, planters, waste bins, and bike stands in the concrete finish of the Escofet collection. Installation with stability and functionality in mind
The installation of the Sócrates 60 with integrated LED lighting requires careful planning to ensure both stability and the functionality of the lighting system. The bench is delivered with a pre-installed LED system that can be easily connected to a 24V power supply.
Safe transport and precise placement
Transport must be carried out with care to avoid damage to the etched finish and the lighting system. Polyester slings and professional lifting equipment should be used to move the bench. Ensure that the LED wiring is well-protected during installation.
Easy maintenance for long-lasting performance
Maintenance is straightforward. The LED lighting is energy-efficient and requires minimal upkeep. The concrete surface can be cleaned with water and a soft brush, while stubborn stains can be removed with a non-abrasive cleaner. Periodically check the lighting system and connections to ensure long-lasting performance.
