At 240 cm the Sócrates 240® accommodates three to four people seated side by side at a comfortable distance. This scale makes it well suited as an accessible bench on park paths and pedestrian routes where standards for accessible route interruption require seating at regular intervals. In urban parks, along canal paths, on campuses, and near care facilities, the Sócrates 240® functions as the rest point that makes a difference for visitors who cannot complete the full route in one movement.
One material, no maintenance burden
The Sócrates 240® is a monolithic concrete bench: no timber slats that weather, no steel frames that rust, no rubber spacers that come loose. The cast concrete with acid-etched finish exposes the granular structure of the aggregates — the surface has a tactile quality that connects with bluestone or granite paving and unworked stone in the surroundings. The waterproofing treatment protects the element for long-term outdoor use without masking the material-honest quality of the surface.
Evening identity through integrated lighting
The integrated LED module illuminates the Sócrates 240® LED from below along the full length of the bench. At night the monolithic concrete form becomes a line of light in public space — the lighting emphasises the horizontal continuity of the element and marks the dwell area without flooding the surroundings with light. For promenades, urban axes, and parks with evening use, the LED version is a considered choice that extends the lifespan of public space into the evening hours. The electrical connection must be installed before the paving is laid.

A sequence of Sócrates 240® benches along a walking path or promenade creates a rhythm that accompanies the route. The installation of the Sócrates 240 with integrated LED lighting requires careful attention to both mechanical stability and the functionality of the lighting system. The LED lighting comes with a pre-installed driver that can be easily connected to a 24V power supply.
Safe transport and precise placement
Transport and placement must be carried out using polyester slings and professional lifting equipment to avoid damage to the etched finish and lighting system. Weighing 1483 kg, the bench requires a stable and flat surface. For added stability, anchoring is recommended by drilling holes, filling them with resin or mortar, and securing M16 x 140 mm bolts (DIN 931).
Simple maintenance for long-lasting performance
Maintenance is straightforward thanks to the robust construction and durable lighting system. The concrete surfaces can be cleaned with water and a soft brush, while the LED lighting is energy-efficient and requires minimal inspection. Periodic checks of the connections and lighting are recommended to ensure optimal performance.
