Tiers : een  modern design met elegante lijnen.

In the realm where art meets functionality, the collaboration between Foster + Partners and Escofet by Molins brings forth the TIERS collection, a display of creativity and purposeful design for the different forms of public spaces..

Made of ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC),  these elements redefine street furniture with a mix of durability and elegance that blend into both urban contexts and green environments.

The versatility of these elements lends itself to use both as individual benches or as leaning elements, on the other hand, combining the chairs, benches and tables gives additional functionalities to the environment and users.

The design of the TIERS elements was created on the one hand between Foster + Partners Industrial Design's design expertise and architectural background and ESCOFET's craftsmanship in architectural concrete in design street furniture. The chair, bench and table arrangements were each carefully designed to strike a balance between aesthetic appeal and functionality in public spaces.

The design process behind TIERS is an example of meticulous craftsmanship and technological innovation. Combining engineering expertise and 3D printing ensure precision in every detail of these elements in the design and prototyping process, while the use of Ultra high performance concrete (UHPC) and advanced moulds in the manufacturing process improves structural integrity. This approach not only enhances the visual appeal of the elements, but also ensures that they meet the demands of daily use in demanding environments.

Mike Holland, Head of Industrial Design, at Foster + Partners, says: "We are delighted to launch our first collection with ESCOFET. With their understated elegance and refined profiles, TIERS and GATHER offer a range of creative options for architects, urban planners and landscape designers.".

TIERS' modular flexibility allows for versatile configurations that fit seamlessly into a variety of public spaces. Whether creating intimate seating areas or collaborative work zones, the collection encourages dynamic interactions between users. Thoughtful design considerations, including elegant and comfortable contours as well as accessible heights, meet a wide spectrum of needs in public spaces and promote inclusivity and user engagement.

With the launch of TIERS, Foster + Partners and ESCOFET invite cities to embrace a new era of street furniture - where form and function come together in harmony. When these elements find their place in public spaces, they not only enhance aesthetics but also enrich the way communities interact and develop. Through thoughtful design and meticulous craftsmanship, TIERS sets a precedent for sustainable, user-centred urban innovations and paves the way for future opportunities in both urban planning and landscape design.
