Many steel bicycle racks have sharp edges or rough surfaces that cause paint damage or scratches when a bicycle leans against them. The City 1600 by Larus Design addresses this with mass-coloured plastic sleeves on the horizontal tubes. The sleeves protect the bicycle frame on contact and absorb minor impacts, so bicycles can be parked safely and without damage.
The City 1600's structure consists of galvanised steel tubes. Galvanisation provides a zinc protective layer that holds back corrosion for years, even in locations with heavy rainfall or humidity. The combination of steel structure and plastic sleeves makes the City 1600 suitable for busy locations such as shopping streets, school playgrounds and station environments.
The City 1600 is the wider variant in the Larus Design City range and features two leaning elements side by side. This provides greater parking capacity and a more visually coherent whole along a street façade. For locations with more limited space, the City 800 offers a compact alternative with one leaning element.
The plastic sleeves are available in the standard colours of Larus Design. This allows the City 1600 to be matched to the colours of a façade finish or other street furniture elements for a coherent look. Combine with the City 800 for a flexible installation that can be adapted to the available space.
