Gather : street furniture
for social interaction
The Gather collection by Escofet, designed by Foster + Partners, is an innovative solution for urban spaces.
Made from ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC), this modular seating solution combines durability with a sleek design. Whether it’s creating intimate seating corners or open green areas, Gather fits seamlessly into various urban environments, inviting interaction and comfort.
A Smart Design for Flexible Configurations
The unique feature of the Gather collection is the flexibility of the modular system. Each of the five base components – concave, convex, linear, left, and right end pieces – can be combined in different ways. This offers the possibility of creating enclosed seating areas, straight benches, or circular seating around green islands. This flexibility makes Gather perfect for both urban centers and parks or plazas...
The slim shape of the seat and backrest, made from UHPC-Slimconcrete, makes Gather both aesthetically pleasing and durable. The lightweight modules seem to float above the ground, giving the whole a modern look. The use of ultra-high-performance concrete also ensures long-lasting durability, even in busy urban environments...
Mike Holland, Head of Industrial Design at Foster + Partners, says: “We are delighted to launch our first collection with ESCOFET. With their understated elegance and refined profiles, both the TIERS and GATHER elements offer a wide range of creative options for architects, urban planners, and landscape designers.”
Sustainable and Accessiblekk
With the launch of GATHER, Foster + Partners and Escofet 1886 invite cities and municipalities to embrace a new generation of street furniture – where form and function harmoniously meet. By incorporating these elements into public spaces, they not only improve aesthetics but also enrich how communities interact and develop.
In addition to flexibility and elegant design, the Gather collection emphasizes comfort and accessibility. With a seat height of 45 cm and a backrest angle of 105 degrees, it complies with universal accessibility standards, making it suitable for a wide audience. The surfaces are slightly inclined to offer an ergonomic seating experience.
Available in four colors – gray, black, white, and beige – Gather can easily be adapted to any type of environment. These elements have an acid-etched finish, although the seat and backrest are finished with a lightly polished surface.
Additionally, the optional aluminum armrest provides extra comfort and functionality...
A New Standard for Urban Design
The combination of minimalist design and robust functionality makes Gather a favorite among urban designers. Thanks to its versatile applications and the ability to create different configurations, Gather helps transform public spaces into inviting, dynamic places where people can relax, work, or gather.
With Gather, Escofet 1886 sets a new standard in street furniture design. The modular design and durability make it an ideal choice for cities and municipalities looking for innovative solutions to make public spaces more attractive and functional.
